1. OCCULT INVOLVEMENT OR PRACTICE. This can be through yourself or your parents as demons can pass on to the children of those who get involved in occult practices. It can become a curse broken in your life and can only be removed once you renounce it or repent from it.
Occult practice includes: fortune telling, palm reading, Ouija boards, spiritualism, seances, divination, horoscope, astrology, astral projection, witchcraft, palm, tea leaf or tarot card reading and the new age movement, etc. Practicing Yoga can be detrimental if it involves chanting that honors Krishna. Also Martial Arts trace their roots back to the false religions and paganism of Asia based on the idea that man has within himself the power and ability to become supra-human and godlike. This was the very first deception with which Satan has blinded the human race. All the martial arts around the world have as their foundation and root the Shaolin Temple of China which is a Buddhist temple. Their primary purpose is to evangelize and share Chan Buddhism and Taoism with the entire world.
When you enter the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to [a]imitate the detestable things of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, 11 or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. 12 For whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord; and because of these detestable things the Lord your God will drive them out before you.- Deuteronomy 18:9-12 (NASB)
Do not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out to be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God. - Leviticus 19:31 (NASB)
2. DRUGS AND ALCOHOL. When under the influence of drugs or alcohol, a person loses control of the mind to the point of mental blackouts. This is when demons or evil spirits take possession of the mind. Be sober. Be vigilant.
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit - Ephesians 5:18 (NASB)
Who has woe? Who has sorrow?
Who has contentions? Who has complaining?
Who has wounds without cause?
Who has redness of eyes?
Those who linger long over wine,
Those who go to taste mixed wine.
Do not look on the wine when it is red,

3. THROUGH REPEATED ACTS OF SIN, PRACTICING UNCLEAN HABITS AND YIELDING TO LUST OF THE FLESH. (1) Clean your house. A dirty house can be inhabited by demons.; (2) Clean your heart. Lead a holy and blameless life.; (3) Clean your act. Do not engage in immorality, adultery, fornication, pornography and masturbation.
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. - Galatians 5:19-21 NASB
4. THROUGH A PERSON'S THOUGHT LIFE. Wild and unholy thoughts make a person vulnerable to demonic attacks.
For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. - 2 Timothy 1:7 NASB
5. UNFORGIVENESS, HATRED, RESENTMENT AND BITTERNESS. Persistent bad attitudes can become strongholds. Some symptoms can include suffering from an ulcer, hardening of the arteries, spiritual sickness, insomnia, irritable bowel syndrome and lockjaw.

6. DEMONS CAN ENTER CHILDREN IF PARENTS WERE INVOLVED IN THE OCCULT OR SATANISM OR IF THEY WORSHIPPED PAGAN GODS. The unborn baby is weak and helpless and the devil takes advantage of this. Consecrate your baby to the Lord.
Then God spoke all these words, saying, “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before Me. “You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me - Exodus 20:1-5 NASB
7. THROUGH TRANSFERENCE. Demons can transfer from person to person through the following:
(1) Sexual intercourse - sex with a prostitute, rape, incest and homosexuality
(2) Books and magazines
(3) TV, movies, videos full of fear horro and violence
(4) Bestiality
8. FOLLOWING FALSE RELIGION, CULTS AND HERESIES.
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. - 1 John 4:1-3 NASB
But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron, - 1 Timothy 4:1-2 NASB
9. IDLE WORDS. These are words we utter thoughtlessly or words that do not express our real thoughts or intentions. It can include self-imposed curses.
But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” - Matthew 12:36-37 NASB
